A new study released September 14 re: the new Elder Index which shows that the cost of living for seniors in CA is much greater than what is stated in the Fed. Poverty Guidelines, which are used to determine eligibility for many support programs/services.

Compiled annually since 1982 by the Administration on Aging (AoA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Older Americans 2008: Key Indicators of Well Being

The report is the fourth in a series that describes the overall status of the U.S. population age 65 and over. The publication provides 38 key indicators about older Americans, categorized into five broad groups: population, economics, health status, health risks and behaviors, and health care.
